He is a bad son (couldnt save his mother but went against his father for his gf)īad brother (couldnt even make a connection)īut hey, at least he is willing to let J do whatever she wants which was basically nothingīut this is not surprising since both Acotar and shatter me got the idea from a Turkish novel "Heart Beats"Ģ- by book 3 we get the feeling that Tahere is bored of J &W cause now she has other important thing to focus on, her POC characters So now we hate Adam and root for Warner whose ONLY redeeming quality is loving J. Into the fold and not understanding the trauma Adam went through? Oh no how could he shout at poor defenssless J who needed the blond guy to rescue her!!!! Who promised him to be togetherīut do we excuse him for shouting at J. but the obvious immitation was the ACOTAR theme of hating on the first love interest to make way for the grey red flag character Like any dark romance mafia, Tahere set out to make Warner the ultimate book boyfriend ![]() Puts her in jail to suffer for almost a year, stalk her in jail, tries to force her to do things, makes her believe she killed a child, corners her, wouldnt take no for an answer so she had to shoot him Warner is depicted like any other supposedly dreamy boy (tall, blonde, strong, smart.) the perfect perfection.or is he? Jullietts "i am not insane" repeated over and over is immitating Carden's letter to Jude in the Cruel Prince (I also remember seeing the same thing in another older book but cant remember the name) + ONE BIIIG ISSUE THAT DESERVES ITS OWN MENTIONġ- there was a sense of deja vu while I was reading the series (where did I read this before?) So my issue with this book falls under 4 areasġ-cheap immitation of other books especially ACOTAR So I'll just dive on the reasons why I HATED this bookīut just a warning, possible spoilers ahead ![]() I am not going to retell the summary, by now almost everyone knows it Just because I was told it gets better and because I was promised a strong Female lead (a unicorn amongst books□) Make sure you have the rest of the series available.Well! here I am ready to be backhandled for hating this seriesįirst let me say that I've read the whole series even the novellas The book left you wanting more, so be warned, you will not be able to read only the first book. Judging this book from a younger readers perspective I would have to say love it! Shatter Me has everything from young love, emotional development and global warming effects that have destroyed the world as we know it. With the help of an old friend, she decides to fight for her freedom and her future. However, when the Reestablishment releases her from the asylum, only to try and use her as a weapon, Juliette discovers she is stronger than she realised. The news of a cellmate frightens her, convinced that it will be a psycho who joins her in the asylum. Juliette has been in insolation for 264 days, she doubts her sanity and sees herself as a monster. You feel her gain confidence and courage with every page you turn. As you read the book, you experience Juliette’s emotions first-hand. Shatter Me quickly entwines the reader with the lead character. This book will appeal to a teenage or young adult audience who enjoy dystopian fiction, like the Divergent and Hunger Games book series. This book is written as a first-person narrative keeping the reader close to Juliette throughout the story. The reader can easily imagine the damage to the world and the psychologically issues suffered by Juliette. ![]() The author is extremely descriptive when she explains the effect lack of human contact has had on her lead character, allowing her audience to fully understand the message she is trying to get across. ![]() Labelled a freak, she finds herself locked up in an asylum where she is left incomplete isolation until The Reestablishment decide that they want to use her as a weapon. Shatter Me is a dystopian fiction that tells the story of a teenage girl who has never been able to experience human touch.
